The official rules for indoor hockey are governed by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

Check out the official FIH Rules of Hockey.

Indoor hockey is played on a smaller, hard-surface court with six players per side, including a goalkeeper. The game emphasizes quick reflexes and precise stick skills. Unlike outdoor hockey, the ball is typically pushed rather than hit, and it must remain on the ground except when shooting at goal. Sideboards keep the ball in play, creating a fast-paced and continuous game.

To play indoor hockey, you’ll need:

  • An indoor hockey stick (lighter and shorter than outdoor sticks)

  • An indoor hockey ball

  • Mouthguard and shin guards

  • Indoor court shoes with non-marking soles

  • Protective gloves (optional but recommended)

Goalkeepers require additional protective gear, including a helmet, chest pad, leg guards, and kickers.

The Fixtures & Results and Calendar pages under the Events & Competitions section provide detailed information on upcoming matches and tournaments. These pages are regularly updated, so check back frequently for the latest schedules.
